"THIS GAME ISN'T FOR THE FAINT OF HEARTED"
Character Info:Name: Alpha
Age: 18
AU/PG/CANON/OC: Terrain of Magical Expertise, post Season Two
Key Points:
Before the events in TOME, It's mentioned in episode 10 that kids talked about Alpha behind his back/possibly even face-to-face bullied him in school. Alpha didn't really do much but play video games, so he shut himself out a lot from people in real life.
- While Alpha was never really into human interaction, he got really into the Terrain of Magical Expertise, a popular VMMO that only just recently hit the market. He never thought of himself as a skilled player, but eventually he does get better, and meets Kirbopher -- a fighter class character who introduces him to a group of vigilante-like players fighting against hackers. While fighting a few hackers with them, he comes across the Forbidden power.
- The Forbidden Power is a virus accidentaly created by the Netkings of TOME that messes with the brain cells just a tad to create a varied sensation of pain when attacking its foes. It feeds on negative emotion and manipulates the player into hurting people, and it's exactly what it does to Alpha. He deals with this monstrosity throughout the series, but it actually helps him mature a bit.
- Near the end of season one, Alpha realises that he is strong, even without this monster inside his character's code during a fight with a Forbidden Power-Possessed Zetto (a rival he's had throughout season one). Nylocke removes the power with a Drain-Edge item he equips and tosses it (
it's been like a year and I still can't believe this) away.
- During the Challenge of the Netkings arc, you really get to see Alpha's true personality shine through. He's a loyal friend who wisecracks and acts like a teenager, but he still has some insecurities. When his friends are in danger, he still wants to protect him. When faced with the opporitunity to talk face to face with the people who made the Forbidden Power, Alpha uses the opporitunity to ask why the forbidden power was created in the first place - but accidentally sets it free with pent up anger instead.
- During the fight with RubiRulez in the finale, Alpha asks to use the Forbidden Power to his advantage in order to save Flamegirl. He uses the same words that the Forbidden Power had used on Alpha to manipulate him into gaining the virus, and it ends up working. this shows Alpha's growth tremendously, because now he can fully control the Forbidden Power without any repercussions. He's now fully confident in himself as a human being, and is probably ready for anything.
History: Alpha is a kid who discovers a virus called the Forbidden Power. It feeds on negative emotion in order to hurt people through the game, and it uses this poor kid to do so. He finds it fighting some hackers he and his group friends are trying to get rid of, and lets it manipulate him however it wants throughout the series. The Forbidden Power finally gets removed from Alpha during the Gemini Tournament arc, and it seems to be gone for good. However, during the Challenge of the Netkings arc, Alpha accidentally releases it again with pent up frustration, and TOME is shut down for "maintenance." There he finds out his friend Kirbopher has been living a double life as Zetto, and his other friends get turned into code to combat the Forbidden Power. After a series of events surrounding one of the Netkings and Sofdti (the core of TOME), Alpha and his friends come out relatively unscathed. They later meet each other in real life.
Personality:
Alpha is usually a shy kid, but around people he knows well, Alpha opens up very fast and gets very talkative. Around episode ten he gets less and less shy but more careful around people because of players harassing him about the forbidden power, a virus he gained that could hurt people through the game. He also gets more sympathetic towards a certain Zetto, a player of TOME who he has had a distinct rivalry with since episode five. Also during episode ten, Alpha realizes that he doesn’t need the forbidden power anymore and is more confident in his own abilities.
During season two we get to see Alpha’s real personality as an outgoing goofball and a loyal friend open up drastically, especially during the Challenge of the Netkings. Alpha wisecracks every so often and is more comfortable being around others, but faced with a “wish” he gets very angry with the Netkings and releases the forbidden power again, causing the game to shut down and the Netkings to take some drastic measures. In episode thirteen his ideals with Kirbopher - his best friend throughout the series - tear the two apart and in order to save the game he cares about, while Kirbopher thinks he should stay out of it. He ends up using the Forbidden Power to his advantage to defeat a corrupted RubiRulez and to save his friends, and this proves that he has changed tremendously.
tl;dr: Alpha is very loyal and friendly, and if his friends are in danger, he will do anything to save them. He gains a lot of courage over time and becomes more confident in himself and his abilities. Even though he is shy when he doesn't know a person very well, he is also very into making jokes and wisecracks whenever he does know a person.
Gem Considerations: Tigers Eye
Tigers Eye gemstones ensure the correct use of power, courage, and willpower. Over the course of the series, Alpha takes a good hold on how to control the Forbidden Power - something that has been controlling his life up until episode 10, but he uses it to his advantage during the finale. He gains a buttload of courage and bravery because of these events, too, and is more confident around himself and others. He's now able to controlhis emotions a bit better now, too - he used to be all over the place when the forbidden power was with him, but now since its' gone, Alpha's a bit more stable.
Power considerations:
Chakram Weapon Summoning
- Fire Conjuring
Summarize how would they be affected by the powercap present in Cosmographia, and how they would react to gaining power.
Alpha would be pretty worried about the fact that he's 1) stuck in his game avatar, 2) not able to log out, and 3) no one he knows is there. At least, not that he knows of. He'd try to talk around a bit (keyword being try), but settle down after a while. Once he's got a few friends under his belt, Alpha's gonna be fine - he just needs to figure out why the heck you can fight other players without a Battle Grid. He's still really shy, but he's gonna try his best around these parts.
